Where to start?

Explora - Secondary Schools OR Academic Search Premier  are good places to start when you are not sure what database to use!

These two databases are general in nature and cover most topics of interest.  The content supports both student research and classroom instruction with features including a simple search, easily browsed categories, and topic overviews.

If you need help ask the CA librarian or a teacher.

How do I find them?

These valuable databases are made available from our local public library, Copiah-Jefferson Regional Library.  To search these resources follow these steps:

• Visit MAGNOLIA Databases (https://magnolia.msstate.edu)

• Click "Sign In"

• Key in Username (get password from the librarian or teacher)

• Scroll down and choose a database. Remember Explora - Secondary Schools OR Academic Search Premier are both good choices and are the most popular for high school students.

• Biography Reference Bank
  Biography Reference Center provides thousands of unique and reliable full-text biographies, including the complete full text of Biography and Biography Today. In addition to keyword search, users can locate biographies by subject occupation, activity, nationality, gender, birthplace and more.

• History Reference Center
  Reference books, encyclopedias, history periodicals, historical documents, biographies of historical figures, photographs, maps, and videos

• Literary Reference Center
  Help for high school and undergraduate English and Humanities students in a highly graphical interface

• Mississippi Encyclopedia
  The Mississippi Encyclopedia includes solid, clear information on every county, every governor, and numerous musicians, writers, artists, and activists. It is the first encyclopedic treatment of the state since 1907.

MAGNOLIA databases @ the Public Library

MAGNOLIA is a statewide group funded by the Mississippi Legislature which provides online research databases for free and from home through your public library. • Up to 500 / Grades K-2
